About Us

Community Focus is a company that was inspired in 2003 by a number of homeowners in a Durham, NC community that had all of the infastructure in place to operate as an organized, efficient and cohesive group, but were frustrated with the limitations of their current management company.    Community Focus started as a one-man operation, when these owners approached the General Manager of their community swim club and asked if he would be interested in expanding his expertise into the realm of HOA Management.  After several years of management and positive feedback, word spread to neighboring communities, who asked to have their communities managed by Community Focus.   Not wanting to lose quality in the services of currently managed neighborhoods and having limited staff to ensure the personal service that the business is founded on, requests were denied over and over.   Then we realized that saying ”No” to interested communities was probably not a business model that would be considered useful for longterm success.  After much deliberation and research, we decided to incorporate as Community Focus of NC, Inc in 2008 and hire additional staff so that we could start saying “Yes” to communities that see the benefit in our specialized, local services.   We are committed to helping our communities operate effectively, efficiently and with the confidence that they are managed and maintained to the highest standards available in the industry.  

This confidence is instilled through a staff of professionals and local consultants who have backgrounds in many levels of expertise including: Financial Planning, Community Management, Real Estate Sales, Real Estate and HOA Law, Community Planning & Development, Landscaping Design & Maintenance, Road Construction and Maintenance Club & Pool Management, Home Construction, Home Repair, Community Organizing, Web Design and IT Operations.

While we are always interested in obtaining new clients, our focus will be on maintaining the “small business” feel of our company. We want to get to know our homeowners and understand their individual concerns. We feel confident that you could knock on the door of any owner in a community we manage and they will have good things to say about our company.
